Eragon by Christopher Paolini

I just read another really awesome book Eragon by Christopher Paolini. It's about a 15 year old boy named Eragon. Eragon lives on a farm with his uncle Garrow and his cousin Roran.Nothing is known of his father and his mother was Garrow's sister and she pleaded Garrow to take care of Eragon and no one has seen her since.15 years later Eragon is hunting in a range of mountains called the Spine when a blue stone appears in front of him. Hoping it will buy his family food for the winter he takes it home to his farm in Carvahall.Later the stone cracks open leaving a blue baby dragon. When Eragon touches her he gets a silvery mark on his palm (a gedway ignasia) making him one of the legendary Dragon Riders. Eragon hides the dragon from his family trying to keep it safe. During this time he names the dragon Saphira, a name given to him by the village storyteller Brom. Soon after that Roran leaves the farm for a job that will allow him enough money to marry Katrina the butcher Sloan's daughter. When Saphira grows to be be taller than Eragon, two strangers come into Carvahall looking for a stone similar the one Saphira hatched from. The butcher Sloan tells the strangers called the Ra'zac that Eragon has a stone just like their description. So Eragon runs home to tell Saphira that they were there looking for them.Saphira gets upset and kidnaps Eragon. While flying on Saphira Eragon's legs get rubbed raw from her sharp scales.Saphira takes Eragon fare away into the Spine. When Eragon finally convinces Saphira to go back to warn Garrow of the Ra'zac. When Eragon and Saphira got there, they found they were to late , the Razac had burnt down their farm. In the wreckage of there farm Eragon finds Garrow burnt and injured.Frightened, Eragon asks Saphira to carry him and Garrow to Carvahall. Not even 2 miles from Carvahall Saphira crashes because of the weight. So Eragon is forced to pull his Uncle into Carvahall. Carrying his Uncle makes the scabs on his legs crack and with each step he gets a blast of excruciating pain.Eragon is almost upon Carvahall when he sees the story teller Brom running over to him then he blacked out. Eragon awoke to find himself in the healer Gertrude's house. That night Garrow died and Eragon vowed to track and kill the Razac. Eragon is accompionied by Brom, who knows of Saphira's existence and asks to accompany Eragon for reasons of his own. After Eragon agrees Brom gives him the sword Zar'roc, which was once a Rider's blade, though he refuses to say how he got it.While traveling they stop in a town named Yazuac. But while there they find the villagers slaughtered by Urgals (there kind of like orcs ).Racing out of the town, they're ambushed by 2 remaining Urgals. Trying to keep himself alive and outraged that the Urgals killed the villagers Eragon utters a single word Brisinr which killed the Urgals instantly.Eragon learns much from Brom during there travels, including how to fight with swords and magic and how to care for Saphira.Eventually, they lose the Ra'zac's trail and visit Teirm, where Brom believes his old friend Jeod can help locate the Ra'zac's lair.In Teirm, the eccentric herbalist Angela tells Eragon's fortune, predicting mighty powers struggling to control his destiny,an epic romance with one of a noble birth: the fact that he will one day leave Alagaesia, never to return: a betrayal from within his family;and that there will be a death near in his future. Her companion, the werecat Solembum, also gives him some words of advice which is If the time comes and you need a weapon look under the roots of the Menoa tree, and When all seems lost and your power is insufficient, go to the rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the Vault of Souls. Then Eragon, Brom and Saphira depart for Dras-Leona,where they hope to find the Ra'zac. Brom finally reveals that he is an agent of the Varden- a rebel group dedicated to overthrowing Galbatorix- and that he had been hiding in Eragon's village witing for the new Dragon Rider to appear. Brom also explains that twenty years ago, he and Joed stole Saphira's egg from Galbatorix. In the process,Brom killed Morzan, first and last of the Forsworn.Only two other dragon eggs exist both in Galbatorix's possession.Near Dras-Leona,the Ra'zac waylay Eragon and his companions, and Brom is mortally wounded while protecting Eragon. The Ra'zac are driven away by a mysterious man named Murtagh, who says he's been tracking the Ra'zac. Brom dies that following night. With his last breath Brom confesses he was once a Rider and his slain dragon was blue and also named Saphira. Eragon buries Brom in a tomb of Sandstone which Saphira transmutes into pure diamond.Whitout Brom, Eragon and Saphira decide to join the Varden. By ill chance Eragon, is captured at the city of Gil'ead and brought to the Shade, Durza, Galbatorix's right hand man. With Murtagh and Saphira's help, Eragon escapes from prison, bringing along the unconscious elf Arya, another captive, with him.By this piont Eragon and Murtagh have become great friends. With her mind Arya tells Eragon that she has been ferrying Saphira's egg between the elves and the Varden, in the hopes that it would hatch for one of their childrean. However during her last trip, she was ambushed by Durza and forced to send the egg else where which is how it came to Eragon. Now Arya is seriously wounded and reguires the Varden's medical help.Using mental images she tells Eragon how to get to them.Eragon and his friends travel almost 400 miles in 8 days. They are pursued by a continent of Urgals who trap them in the towering Beor Mountains. Murtagh who has not wante to go to the Varden, is forced to tell Eragon that he is the son of Morzan. Nurtagh, however, has denounced his father's deeds and fled Galbatorix's patronage to seek his own destiny. he shows Eragon a great scar across his back, inflicted when Morzan threw his sword, Zar'roc, at him when he was just a child. Thus, Eragon learns his sword once belonged to Murtagh's father, he who betrayed th Tider to Galbatorix and slaughtered many of his former comrades. Just before they are overwhelmed by the Urgals, Eragon and his friends are rescued by the Varden, who seemed to appear out of very stone. It turns out that the Varden are based in Farthen Dur, a hollow mountain about ten miles high and ten miles miles across. Once inside Eragon meets with the Varden's leader Ajihad and the Dwarf leader Hrothgar. Murtagh is imprisoned because of his parantage. Ajihad explains many things to Eragon including that the Varden, Elves, and Dwarves had agreed that when a new Rider appeared, he or she would be trained by Brom and then sent to the elves to complete the training. While there Eragon is tested by the twins, two bald and rather nasty magicians who serve Ajihad;spars with Arya once she has recovered:and again encounters Angela and Solembum who have also joined the Varden .Eragon and Saphira also bless one of the Varden's orphan babies. Eragon's stay is disturped by news of an Urgal army approaching through the Dwarves' tunnels. In the battle that follows Eragon is seperated from Saphira and forced to fight Durza alone. Far stronger than any human , Durza easily defeats Eragon, slashing open his back from shoulder to hip. At that moment, Saphira and Arya break the roof of the chamber- a sixty-foot-wide star sappphire-distracting Durza long enough for Eragon to stab him through the heart. Freed from Durza's spells the Urgals turn against each other and are driven back into the tunnels. While Eragon lies unconscious after the battle Eragon is telepathically contacted by a bieng who identified himself as Togira Ikonoka - The Cripple Who Is Whole. He offers answers to all of Eragon's guestions and encourages Eragon to seek him in Elesmera,. When Eragon awakes, he finds that to Angela's best efforts he is left with a scar simmilar to Murtagh's. Dismayed, he also realises that he only slew Durza through sheer luck and that he desperatley needs more training.Eragon decides that yes he will find Togira Ikonoka and that he will learn from him.

Hey guys, sorry about the long description of the book. It's a big book and almost every detail is important. And I reccomend this book to any one who loves dragons, adventure, fighting and magic. If you want to continue reading about Eragon and Saphira there are 2 more books Eldest and Brisingr.

I like this book because you don't know whats going to happen next and that youhave to pay attention to almost every little detail in the book. It's so good you don't want to put it down!I used to not like dragons and I thought that my parents were joking when they said said it was really good. It's cool because you learn things in the 2nd and 3rd book that fits something in the first book ( You don't have to get what I just meant to tell you, you're just going to have to read the books) I hope you read the book its awsome!

One of My Favorite Things: My dog Dakota

Hey guys, one of my favorite things is in that picture. If you're wondering what that may be its that little dog. That's my dog Dakota. That picture was taken a few years ago so Dakota looks a little different now.

Dakota is a gray toy poodle about 8 years old now. We got Dakota when she was about 13 weeks old in New Orleans, Louisiana and boy was she fuzzy. Dakota weighs around 10 pounds now and smells kind of like you know dog.Unlike most dogs Dakota likes taking baths and curling up in blankets.

Dakota is the best dog in the world (that's my opinion so don't get upset). She's important to me because no matter what, she does something to make me laugh. When you're sad or angry Dakota comes up and gives you a hug ( that's when she puts her head on your chest and gives you the puppy eyes). And when no one's home when you get home from school she makes you feel safe. Dakota is one of my best friends. I think it's funny when her and my husky Kenai get in a fight over something, even though she's about 5 feet taller than Dakota, Kenai, is the one that calls surrender. Dakota sometimes gets annoying but she's still the best.
